多年生，全株无粉，被多细胞毛；叶肾圆形至椭圆形或矩圆形，基部心形或近圆形，稀楔状渐狭，通常具明显的叶柄；花序伞形或总状；花异型；花萼裂片叶状，两面被毛，具明显的脉纹，果时增大。蒴果近球形，瓣裂。
