性状：为无色或淡黄色油状液；有窜透性烟臭，味灼烈，有腐蚀性。微溶于水与沸水，能与乙醇、乙醚、氯仿、冰醋酸、脂肪油与挥发油任意混合，易溶于氢氧化碱溶液，难溶于氨溶液。

作用与用途：作用与酚相似，但其毒性与刺激性均较小。有杀菌、防腐、除臭作用。内服小剂量为祛痰剂，用于慢性支气管炎与支气管扩张，亦可蒸汽吸入。外用为局部镇痛剂，搽于蛀牙处可止痛。

成分:愈创木酚、木馏油酚、苯酚、O-甲酚、P-甲酚、4-乙基愈创木酚这六种成分占75%以上，其他还有二甲苯酚等

药理:防腐、杀菌作用，局部麻醉作用等

适用:止泻、抑制肠道异常运动、牙痛等

注意事项：禁与金属盐类、强氧化剂、蛋白质或树胶溶液配伍。

贮藏：避光，凉处密闭保存。

制剂：牙痛溶液；正露丸原料
