这是朱莉-沃尔特斯第二度荣获奥斯卡提名。1984年，沃尔特斯曾因在《丽塔的教育》（Educating Rita）一片中的出色表现而获得过最佳女主角的提名。

沃尔特斯的演艺生涯重在舞台与电视荧屏，重要的电影作品并不多，其中较为知名的有1987年的《私人服务》（Personal Services）和1991年的《跨越》（Stepping Out），并曾在1988年与著名歌星菲尔- 科林斯（Phil Collins）联袂主演了《巴斯特的选择》（Buster）。

继《比利-埃略特》的大获成功之后，沃尔特斯今年还将出现在万众瞩目的哈里-波特系列之《哈里·波特与魔法石》（Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone）一片里。
