电影学中研究 电影艺术基本规律和特性问题的分科.从美学角度而言也是美学的一个部门性分科.一般来说电影美学的研究对象包括以下几个方面:(1) 电影作为艺术与现实的关系,即如何运用电影艺术手段认识和反映现实的规律问题.(2) 电影思维作为 形象思维的特点.即研究电影艺术的形象特性,电影思维区别于其他形象思维的特点等问题.(3)电影中 艺术形式的规律性,包括一般规律性以及特殊规律性(电影样式、风格、结构原则、表现手段、 电影语言等)问题.随着电影艺术和美学研究的发展,电影美学的研究对象与范围也在不断地拓展与变化.20世纪60—70年代以来 电影美学研究已走入了一个综合化、细密化的开放空间. 电影哲学、 电影社会学、 电影心理学、电影 社会心理学、 电影符号学、 电影叙事学等学科的出现,新的研究方法和多种手段的运用,使电影美学的 内涵和外延始终处在丰富和扩展的动态过程之中,以至于电影美学界在界定电影美学的性质、研究对象的范围等问题上一直未能取得一致的结论.
